DECEMBER 2020: Horton Wreath Society

Thank you MITS for all of your work over the past two days placing wreaths at Horton State Veteran’s Cemetery. When we were planning for the event we thought with the reduced number of volunteers coming out we had doubts about being able to finish placing all wreaths on the 10,800 graves.  Not only did we finish Sat, we finished well before the ceremony at 1130 and even had to stop placing wreaths Friday in order for there to be enough for the volunteers to place on Sat!                                                                                                                                                                                                                            We also learned lots of lessons from this year that will be carried into future years to make the event easier, especially for the family members.  Some of us had the privilege of working at the front desk, meeting the family members and wanted to let you know how thankful they were for everyone of us that were out there decorating the ‘neighborhood’ of their loved ones.  It was an honor to do so, and also an honor to be with so many of you who volunteered your time.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           You made this time a little more bearable for the widows, widowers and orphans.
